Pick your exam — the content adapts, not the other way around.
Every track below sits on the same underlying content and grading engine. Legacy UBE support is real, but deliberately thin and explicitly temporary — it has a published expiration date. NextGen is where the engineering investment lives.
NextGen UBE
Primary architectureStandalone MCQs, Integrated Question Sets, and Performance Tasks, scored 500–750 with skills-based assessment.
10 states live now, 23 by July 2027, most remaining by July 2028
Legacy UBE
Thin adapterMBE, MEE, and MPT — the current format for most jurisdictions today, scored 0–400.
Sunsets everywhere by February 2028
California Bar
Distinct trackStandard MBE plus California-specific written components — not on NextGen yet, not on the old independent exam either.
Own hybrid format; NextGen planned July 2028
MPRE
National add-onThe 60-question professional-responsibility exam, required in nearly every jurisdiction — a lightweight add-on track.
Why architecture-first matters here.
Legacy UBE’s three separately-scored components (MBE/MEE/MPT, 0–400 scale) are modeled as a restriction of the NextGen-shaped schema, not a separate system — so Legacy support costs a thin scoring adapter, not a parallel product. That’s the whole reason this platform can credibly support both without either one feeling like an afterthought.
